A note from our Board President, Elaine LeCain:
At our annual Congregational Meeting in May of this year, after months of investigation, looking at options, and town hall meetings with Q&A, we voted to list our property at 98 Sterling Road. This summer, a firm offer was made by our current buyer, and our congregation voted to proceed with the sale.
The moving task force has been diligently working to inventory our “portable” property, arrange for a moving company and make the move as seamless and stress-less as possible. We will be in our new rented space, First Congregational Chapel, 5 Real Road, on Sunday, November 5, 2017. There will be space for the children through the shared nursery with our host church, our own designated classrooms for Religious Education for our children ages 4 – high school. We will be using the Chapel, which is on the West side of the main building, for our worship service, remaining at 10:00am on Sunday mornings. We will be enjoying our coffee hour following the service on the patio outside the Chapel. Because of limited sink space, we will be transitioning to disposable coffee cups. Mark Hodson and JoAnn Conard will be setting out all those kitchen items available for adoption beginning this Sunday, October 8. Please be generous in offering these things a new home.
On October 15, we will be having a special ritual service to celebrate our time at 98 Sterling Road. On Saturday, October 21, we will begin our “packing” party at 9:00am. A sign-up for volunteers for that packing day will be available beginning this Sunday, October 8. Volunteers agree to supervision by a “coordinator” so that all boxes to be moved will be properly packed and labeled. We want to make sure there is uniformity and accuracy in our packingJ. Our final Sunday morning service at 98 Sterling Road will be on Sunday, October 22. Brandi will be leading us in our annual Halloween costumed celebration. After our celebratory service, we will enjoy a brought in lunch and finish the packing. The moving company will arrive on Monday to load our packed boxes. On Sunday, October 29, we will gather together for brunch at 10:30 am at Café Med. Each family/person may order either the brunch or from the deli. We will be able to sit together for the sharing of stories, memories and hopeful anticipation of our new chapter as UUs together.
We look forward to this exciting next step as a fellowship!
